Competition Program
U9 – U18
Birth Years: 2017+
2025 Registration is open!
Program Goals
1. Sustain Joy Through Purpose-Driven Training
The joy of soccer stays at the core—but now, training demands more. Through high-energy sessions with game-relevant challenges, players experience how purpose and passion combine to create powerful growth.
We compete with passion. We train with intent.
2. Elevate Soccer IQ Through Creativity & Decision-Making
ATOMIC players are thinkers. They read the game, make smart decisions, and express creativity on the ball. They are unpredictable. Through scenario-based activities and tactical problem solving, we build adaptable, intelligent players who rise to the moment.
New Layer: Tactical patterns, scanning, game analysis, guided decision-making, and solving in real time.
3. Advance Technical Mastery for Game Impact
Players refine technical skills under pressure—fast, clean, effective. Ball control evolves into impact. Technique isn’t just sharp, it’s sharp in the moment.
New Layer: Speed dribbling, directional first touch, aerial control, and transition skills.
5. Deepen Tactical Understanding & Team Connectivity
We build smart teammates—not just skilled individuals. Players master movement, field awareness, and coordinated team play. Every pass, press, and run has purpose.
New Layer: Positional understanding, transition tactics, pressing cues, 3rd man runs.
6. Solidify a Complete Skill Set Through Game-Speed Repetition
Core Skills:
- Ball Mastery: Quick control, shielding, manipulation
- Passing & Receiving: Timing, angles, weight
- 1v1 Play: Beating defenders, defending with control
- Finishing: Timing runs, accuracy under pressure
- Defending: Compactness, recovery, reading cues
- Game IQ: Movement off-ball, finding and creating space
Competition Team Structure
Atomic Athletics offers 3 levels of soccer teams for each age group where there are numbers of players to support them. These different types of teams are intended to provide Atomic soccer players the opportunity to play at the level that’s best suited to them & their families.
All 3 levels are selected by the Coaching Staff at the Atomic Tryouts in May & based on observed skill level.
TIER 1
The Tier 1 Teams are for dedicated & serious soccer players that want to compete at the local, state and national levels. These teams train 2-3 times per week & participate in 1-2 games per week. Strict commitment to attending all trainings, games & events is a priority.
The Tier 1 Teams commitment level includes the following:
- Year-Round Training
- High-Level Local & Out-of-State Tournaments
- Advanced Training Programs
- Alignment in Upper UYSA Divisions
- National Level Tournaments
- Exposure to Collegiate Soccer Programs
TIER 2 & 3
The Tier 2 & 3 Teams are for players that possess above-average soccer skills & understanding. These teams train twice per week & participate in 1-2 games per week. These teams travel less than Tier 1 teams. While encouraged to attend out-of-state tournaments, these teams participate in more local tournaments than the Tier 1 level teams. The Tier 2 Teams are for players that want to develop their skills, love of the game & take soccer seriously, but also have outside commitments to other sports or activities. Throughout the year, the Atomic Coaching Staff will often give opportunities to train with or guest play in games for the upper Tier Teams. This gives wonderful chances for players to showcase themselves & possibly be promoted to the next level.

The ATOMIC Development Program
The Atomic Player Development Program is a dynamic training initiative designed to elevate the skills and performance of all players within our club. Led by one of our amazing USSF-Certified Coaches, each session offers high-energy, professional group training, organized into three groups: Group 1: U5–U8 players, Group 2: 7v7 & 9v9 players and Group 3: 11v11 players. This structure ensures that each player receives age-appropriate coaching tailored to their stage of growth. The program is centered around three key goals:
Individual Player Skill Development
First, we emphasize individual player skill development by focusing on fundamentals such as ball control, dribbling, passing, and shooting – Helping players grow more confident and consistent in their technique.
Increase Players’ Power, Speed, and Agility
Second, we work to increase players’ power, speed, and agility through age-appropriate fitness activities that enhance explosiveness, coordination, and quickness—giving athletes a physical edge on the field.
Build Confidence with the Ball
Lastly, we strive to build confidence with the ball by creating a supportive environment where players are encouraged to take risks, express themselves, and develop creativity during play.

Our Coaches
Atomic is committed to delivering a high-level soccer experience, and that starts with our Coaching Staff. All of our coaches are either USSF Grassroots Certified, or actively working toward these credentials. All are also required to complete the National “Safe Sport Certification” as well as “Heads Up – Concussion Protocol” Certification. We pair this with a comprehensive training curriculum and a library of age-appropriate session plans to help coaches run effective, high-quality trainings.
We work closely with our coaches to ensure they understand the “why” behind each session and are implementing training that supports proper player development.
We emphasize six key characteristics in our Coaching Philosophy:
-
- Positivity – Coaches focus on encouragement and building CONFIDENCE. Players thrive in environments where they feel supported.
- Patience – Development is a process. We teach coaches to meet players where they are and guide them with understanding and consistency.
- Organization – Every session should be well thought-out and executed with clear structure, minimizing downtime and maximizing learning.
- Fun – When kids enjoy training, they stay motivated and engaged. Fun is essential for long-term growth.
- Clear Communication – Coaches must deliver instructions in a way that’s easy to understand and adjust based on player age and comprehension.
- Creativity – Great coaches find new ways to challenge and inspire players, adapting activities to meet their team’s unique needs.
