Academy Program Mission
To build on the joyful foundation of the Sparks program by guiding young players through the next stage of their soccer journey—where fun meets focus, creativity meets technique, and passion becomes purposeful development.
Program Goals
1. Keep Soccer Their Happy Place—With Purpose!
The joy never stops here—but now we introduce more structure. Through fun, game-based learning with intentional challenges, players learn that training can be both exciting and meaningful. We play with smiles and train with purpose.
2. Grow Their Soccer Identity Through Ecouraged Creativity
ATOMIC players learn how to play, not just what to do. We build thinkers on the field by creating environments where kids read situations, make choices, and express their personality through the ball.
New layer: We introduce guided decision-making, 1v1 duels, and “choice-based” activities.
3. Transform Comfort With the Ball Into Technical Skill
Their ball is still their best friend—but now they learn to use it with purpose. We develop stronger ball mastery with specific techniques: using both feet, different surfaces, and more game-realistic movement patterns.
New layer: Foundation moves (pull-push, scissors, step-overs), juggling, and tight-space turns.
4. Use Soccer to Develop Mental Toughness & Character
The life lessons continue, now with more ownership. Players are challenged to show bravery under pressure, bounce back from mistakes, and support teammates through competition.
New layer: Goal setting, positive self-talk, focus and relax under pressure.
5. Deepen Team Bonds Through Introducing Team Principles
We emphasize that soccer is a team game and every player should be involved in every play—on offense and defense. Rather than staying locked into positions, players learn about field awareness, movement, and spacing so they can support their team from any part of the field. Here we start teaching the importance of thinking a play ahead.
“Everyone defends. Everyone attacks. Everyone matters.”
New layer: Small group cooperation (2v2, 3v3), spacing games, off-ball movement, and communication exercises.
6. Build a Strong Soccer Foundation Through Play & Repetition
This is where true skill work begins—without losing the play-based roots. Players learn the “why” and “how” behind each core skill, practicing them with intensity, repetition, and variety.
Skill Foundations Include:
-
-
Ball Mastery: Both feet, multiple surfaces, pressure environment.
-
Passing & Receiving: Weight, accuracy, angles, timing.
-
1v1 Attacking: Moves to beat defenders, shield the ball.
-
Striking & Finishing: Technique + composure in front of goal.
-
Defending Basics: Body shape, delay, tackle timing.
-
Field Awareness: Movement off the ball, creating space, playing in space
